FEBRUARY 2022 MEETING NOTES
Hatherly PTO Meeting Minutes 2-15-2022
· Welcome/introductions
· Approval of minutes
o Minutes approved
· Principal’s report
o Masks will become optional
§ Going around having conversations with the kids
§ Acknowledging there was a rule that is changing and it is a choice to make with your family
§ We need to respect everyone’s choice
o Peer data received from 4th and 5th graders
§ Using the information to do classroom lessons, social groups and connectiveness
§ Mrs. Henry put together an all-school meeting on connectiveness
§ March theme will be relationships with adults
· This is a theme across the community not just Hatherly
§ Ms. Otto on SEB team
· Goes through the surveys, works with families struggling
§ Mrs. Henry PBIS team
· Takes the info and runs with it
§ Trying out 3 reading program pilots
· Using funding from the government to purchase the materials to pilot in September
§ 100th day tomorrow!
· Sprit week this week
§ Ms. Otto gave update on the 5th grade fieldtrip that happened last week
· Kids had a blast
§ Book swap going on this week
· Bring in books you no longer read and swap
· Mrs. Henry gave update on the 1st grade books
· Jen Driscoll thanked treasurers for ordering the books
· Treasurers’ report
o Greg and Christine gave updates
o Greg gave update that for teacher spending there’s about $600 left
o Christine gave update of $3600 left for enrichment budget
o Mini grants – money left in budget
§ Can rework to spend on things needed
o Business expenses
§ Going to go over approx. $200 due to prices increasing
o Mrs. Ward let the PTO know the kindergarten classes have asked for new rugs
§ PTO agreed to cover costs
o Greg let Mrs. Ward know he can make a document to make it easier for the office to keep track of everything being ordered
· Website
o Greg gave update
o Not much to report. Kelly Swain and Greg have offered to make any updates to the website if anyone has suggestions/requests
o Julie Long asked that there needs to be more
o Mrs. Henry said she’d let teachers know they can add a link to the website that send out monthly updates to families
· Spirit week!!!

o 100th day of school, act of kindness day and pajama day
· School Store
o Jess Gavin gave update
o Julie Long ran school store last Friday
o Due to weather, attendance was low but still had a good turnout
· Spring events
o 5th grade recognition
§ Scheduled for June 24th
§ PTO gives $1000/year
§ Parents just need to email with requests
o Field day is back on!
§ June 21st (rain date June 23rd )
§ Jen Driscoll asked if there needs to be a chair as there was in the past
· Mrs. Henry said to reach out to Mr. P to find out what is needed to help like it was in the past
· Julie Long said in the past the chair was responsible for getting parent volunteers while Mr. P handled the stations
· Julie Long said the only thing that was rented in years past was a giant bounce house
o Mrs. Ward said she doesn’t think there will be any restrictions
o Enrichment/ field trips / teacher appreciation
§ Jen Driscoll gave update
· Cartoonist coming in for an entire week
· Wampatuck had him and gave very positive feedback
§ Mrs. Ward asked if the Museum of Science will return next year
· Jen Driscoll will look into it
§ 5th grade Gillette was a hit so Jen is going to work to schedule again for next year
§ Field trips are being funded for every grade
· If they haven’t gone on one yet, they’ve emailed that they’re in the process of booking one
§ Teacher appreciation
· Milk barn cookies were brought in Monday for teachers
· For March 16: crock pot soup and salad
o Sending an email after Feb break for parents to sign up
· Asking for ideas for teacher appreciation week
o Want to do something little every single day
o Looking into getting teachers a canvas bag
o Boosterthon
§ Lauren Shea gave update
· Next year will be November 15th
· Initial fee has been paid
· Rain dates available next year so it will be outside
· Boosterthon will start 10 days before the event
o Teacher Grants
§ Jen Driscoll thanked everyone that helped to get the grants processed and delivered quickly
o School pictures
§ Julie Long gave update
§ Confirmed with Coffee Pond
· Going to sign a 2 year contract
· Every student gets a class photo regardless of purchasing a package
· Sibling photos available
§ Lifetouch gives more $ back to the school, but Coffee Pond has a better quality
o 5th grade agendas

§ All 5th graders in the district will have the same agenda
§ 45 student agendas
§ 15 teacher agendas
§ Total of $105
· CORSE is splitting the cost with the schools
o Nurse appreciation
§ All 6 PTOs in the district are working together to get the nurses an appreciation gift for all the extra effort they’ve had to put in over the last 2 years
