o SEL theme: relationships with adults
§ Every student has written a paragraph about an adult they have a relationship with
§ 3 children a day read aloud each morning
§ Same theme for Monday mornings read aloud
§ PBIS using same theme
o Excellence awards
§ Awards given out for any reason they can think of
§ Want to highlight everyone’s unique excellence
o MCAS starting soon
§ 2 grades this year
o Parent teacher conferences just ended

o Greg Zuckerman gave update
o Projected goal was -$6700
§ Actual will be around $5400 profit
· Recess equipment, murals and teacher appreciation will benefit to the profit
o Jen Driscoll gave update about artist enrichment program
§ Cartoon artist
§ Going to teach students how to draw cartoons
§ 5th grade will work with artist to paint a full wall mural in the cafeteria

o Greg Zuckerman did not have any updates
o Julie Long encouraged everyone to check out the website and have others use it

o Mrs. Ward would like to find out how to ask for money to purchase new items

o Greg Zuckerman said PTO should put together a chart with what and where to order
o Next task is to figure out what’s broken outside so custodians can fix
o PTO suggested purchasing bins to put outside for parents to donate items

o Jen Driscoll gave update about Field Day
§ Emailed Mr. P to let him know PTO is here to support
§ Would like to order t-shirts for everyone for field day
o 5th grade update
§ June 23rd morning
§ Similar to last year
· Kids sit with their families
· Everyone gets the opportunity to speak/perform etc
· Everyone gets a certificate
· 1 hour for families
· After families leave the rest of the students will walk through
· If it rains it will be inside to make sure working families don’t miss it
· Sun safety
o Kate Labadia gave update
o Met with Mrs. Ward today
§ Shade will be back up by April vacation
§ Education piece
· Children’s melanoma prevention foundation was bought out so they can no longer have the rep come in for an assembly
· Instead going to read a book on sun safety in Monday
· Will give out flyers and pencils
§ Sun safety school store
· Last year was at same time as monthly school store
o Would like to separate out this year
· Enrichment/ field trips/ teacher appreciation

o Pushing all grades to make sure to get field trips in
o Jen Driscoll thanked parents for teacher appreciation
§ Next month will be thank you notes in the mailboxes
o May will have teacher appreciation week
§ Every day is something different
§ One of the days would like to purchase a gift for teachers
§ Would like to include nurse Jessica in that week
o Lauren Shea motioned to move $1000 into teacher appreciation budget
